The Run DMC x adidas Superstar

The legendary adidas Superstar is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and adidas plans on releasing plenty of collaborations to pay homage to the silhouette. Today we get a first look at one of those pairs with the Run DMC x adidas Superstar. The shoe takes on an OG-inspired white leather on the upper with black three stripes branding on the side panels and a red heel tab. Unique details include “SUPERSTAR” written on the lateral side panels and RUN DMC branding on the tongue and insoles. A release date has yet to be announced but make sure to check back with Kicks On Fire for updates. via KicksonFire.com

Nike Air Max 90 Navy/Grey

In honor of its continuously celebrated anniversary, the Nike Air Max 90 has split between two distinct avenues of design: one a melting pot of space themes and wild, eclectic images and the other a much more true to form set of OGs and close spin-offs. The silhouette’s latest uses this recognizable color blocking and swaps for neutrals, applying hits of grey to the eye stay, tread, and the surroundings of the air bubble while accenting adjacent with darker panels of a smooth navy. The latter adds further embellishment at the top of the ankle as well as the heel, leaving much of everything else — the midsole, the “Nike Air” emblem, the varied material make-ups, laces, etc. — a flat white tone. Grab a detailed look at this versatile entry into the line-up below, and as they’re available currently overseas, expect a stateside release at Nike.com and select retailers to arrive hopefully within the coming months. via SneakerNews.com

EXCLUSIVE: Richardson Launches Tokyo Flagship Store With Special Apparel

Richardson has been around since Andrew Richardson launched the imprint in 1998, followed by its clothing range in 2003, which kicked off with a Supreme T-shirt collaboration. As the label moves into its 22nd year in the business, Richardson is finally opening its third flagship store, following the New York and Los Angeles outposts with a new space in Tokyo’s youthful Harajuku neighborhood.

Accompanying the new space is a slate of special wearables, with designs that take cue from various Japanese motifs. Nobuyoshi Araki‘s sexually-charged photography sets the tone for a black long-sleeved shirt and a bomber jacket and hoodie printed with photo-realistic shibari(rope bondage). These are accompanied by a more understated hoodie, T-shirts and shorts emblazoned with Richardson branding, Japanese Katakana and Kanji in calligraphic style against the Japanese flag. Meanwhile, classic Richardson Hardware verbiage elevates a host of versatile tees and hats, reviving one of the label’s signature branding techniques.

The exclusive collection will launch in-store at the new Richardson Tokyo location, scheduled to open at the below address on March 28. Below, read HYPEBEAST’s brief Q&A with Andrew Richardson.

HUMAN MADE Releasing Traditional Japanese “Wa” Collection

NIGO and his streetwear brand HUMAN MADE will be releasing a special collection in celebration of their Japanese heritage. The theme of the collection is “Wa” (和) or “harmony.” In Japanese culture, Wa is a traditional social and family value that implies peace and unity.

For this collection, HUMAN MADE employs the use of Japanese Aizome (藍染め), a deep blue dye collected from the leaves of the Japanese indigo plant. Continuing on the traditional Japanese theme is the Samue (作務衣) Jacket, a piece historically known to be worn by Zen Buddhist monks, but in modern days is a common casual or workwear staple. This piece comes in Aizome blue with white Human Made branding on the back, accompanied by a duck graphic that is seen throughout the collection.
Accompanying the jacket is the Tsumeeri (詰襟) Shirt in white, a type of shirt that makes up the uniform of many middle-school and high-school boys in Japan. Accessories include an indigo Tenugui (手拭い), a thin Japanese hand towel made from cotton, and a furoshiki (風呂敷), a cloth traditionally used to wrap gifts and other goods.
The HUMAN MADE “Wa” lineup features 14 items in total, including short and long sleeve tees. The collection launches via raffle at a pop-up store at Isetan Shinjuku Men’s Building on March 25th. The pop-up closes on April 10th. Grab a look at the complete collection below.
