Nike SB Dunk High "Black Pigeon"

Igniting the hype, the “Black Pigeon” returns — this time in a high top look. Presented by Relevant Customs to Jeff Staple during his book signing at Philly’s streetwear foothold UBIQ, the shoes pay homage to the original design which resurfaced last November. The runners get a black cracked leather treatment sitting on top of iconic red soles. To mark the occasion in the City of Brotherly Love, pony fur is added on the pigeon wings.
Unfortunately, if you were hoping to cop a pair, these were gifted as one of one’s, but watch the UBIQ recap below and be sure to check out our sneaker drop roundup for similar kicks. In case you missed it, listen to Episode 06 of Business of HYPE hosted by Staple. via Hypebeast.com

Virgil Abloh Named New Head Menswear Designer at Louis Vuitton

In breaking news, French luxury house Louis Vuitton has just named Virgil Abloh as its new artistic director of menswear, replacing Kim Jones who announced his departure just last week.
Abloh’s new gig at LV will make him one of the few black designers at the top of a French heritage house, followed by Olivier Rousteing at Balmain and Ozwald Boateng, who was the designer for Givenchy menswear from 2003 to 2007. According to The New York Times, Abloh will relocate his family to Paris to fulfill his new role.
Before today’s official announcement, it was rumored Abloh would take over Jones’ spot. On the same day as his announcement to leave Louis Vuitton, Kim Jones posted a pair of Off-White™ x Air Jordan 1 sneakers, signed by Abloh himself, with the caption “Thanks Virgil, BIG LOVE.” Abloh will show his first collection for Louis Vuitton during Paris Men’s Fashion Week in June.
Abloh stated:
“I feel elated. This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at a brand that represents the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams. And to show a younger generation that there is no one way anyone in this kind of position has to look is a fantastically modern spirit in which to start.” via Hypebeast.com

Adidas Portland Headquarters to Double in Expansion Size

As adidas continues to thrive and surpass their competitors in the U.S., the need for more space at their North Portland headquarters has become of prime urgency. Adidas will address those concerns by expanding its North American headquarters more than double its current size.
Currently housing approximately 1,700 employees in just 365,000 square feet, an expansion of the company’s Portland office is set to begin construction in either late summer or early fall. Adidas plans to add two three-story buildings and a five-story structure totaling 425,000 square feet according to Oregon Live.
Plans of this expansion publicly date back to last October, when adidas North America President Mark King suggested that the company would add an additional 200,000 square feet to its headquarters. Now, just five months later, the number of square footage has risen to 425,000.
In that very same comment, King also suggested that the expansion is a result of the company’s growing success and their need to strengthen local staff. He alluded to growing the number of employees from 1,700 to 2,800 once the expansion is final. A completion date has not yet been disclosed. via NiceKicks.com

After several teases and sneak peeks, Virgil Abloh’s OFF WHITE x Nike Air VaporMax “Black” will finally be released on Friday, March 30. And with the long awaited sneaker’s release just days away, here’s another look at Abloh’s take on the VaporMax.
The OFF WHITE x Nike Air VaporMax  features a black Primeknit upper, white stitching an oversized Swoosh logo, and like other iterations of the VaporMax silhouette, a full-length Air Max cushioning outsole.

Nike Air Max 97

Being that each Air Max 97 OG colorway has released and been accounted for, Nike’s crowning silhouette is looking to its past for further inspiration — namely the Air Max 1. This upcoming iteration clearly pulls from the Air Max 1 “Varsity Red” that is set to re-release again on Air Max Day.
Littered in grey synthetics with red patent leather circling the base, full-length Air cushioning anchors the look which seamlessly joins the to classic Air Max models.
At the moment, there doesn’t appear to be release details for this upcoming Nike Air Max 97. Take a look below and stay tuned for more. via NiceKicks.com

Nike LeBron 15 "Neon"

As #LeBronWatch 2018 continues to heat up, it appears that some of the best releases yet may still be forthcoming. After “Diamond Turf” and “Mowabb” editions (to name a few), James is ready to pay tribute to one of his favorite Air Max models potentially in time for the relevant brand holiday next week.
Honoring the timeless Nike Air Max 95 “Neon” OG, James fashions his 15th signature model in medium grey Battleknit with supporting white and neon accents seen throughout the eyelets, tongue tag, laces and Visible Air. James’ crown and lion logo are both present at the tongue and outsole, ensuring that this ode to the Air Max 95 is still very much a Bron shoe.
Expect the Nike LeBron 15 “Neon” to release on Nike SNKRS as soon as the King laces the shoe up on-court, which could be any day now. via NiceKicks.com

JD Sports to Buy Finish Line

The retailer that runs sneaker culture in the UK is reportedly set to buy the running retailer that’s long been a staple in the US. According to Sole CollectorJD Sports is set to purchase Finish Line for $558 Million.
While both company’s shareholders have to approve the deal, it will be interesting to see how the two retailers renowned for lifestyle running — arguably the most important category in modern sneaker culture — could collaborate on initiatives and maybe use their esteem to leverage exclusives. For the moment being, Finish Line seems excited about the potential merger.
“Finish Line has long admired JD and their commitment to serve customers with premium brands through a unique and innovative retail experience,” stated Sam Sato, Finish Line’s chief executive officer. “We are thrilled to partner with them and look forward to realizing the impact we will have on the marketplace together.”

Daniel Bryan Returns!!!!!!

Graphic by The Real Dwayne Allen

The Yes Movement is alive and well!!!!! About 3 1/2 years ago Daniel Bryan came out on to Monday Night Raw with a new clean shaven beard and cut hair and at that point I knew the rumors to be true. Daniel Bryan had reportedly received a concussion that would force him into retirement.

I refused to watch the speech and to this day I never have. The one that kept me ok about one half of my favorite wrestler no longer being able to compete in-ring, was that he would still be featured on WWE programming in some way or fashion now that his in-ring career was seemingly over. I couldn't believe and didn't want to. One day watching Total Divas on E! network, one of the major plot points on the show at the time was Daniel Bryan continuing his career and seeing specialists about possibly returning to the ring at some point.

Watching him exhaust every resource he could come up with gave me hope that maybe there was a way for him to return to in-ring action. After all, Daniel Bryan's extremely healthy lifestyle would promote proper healing for someone like him and if anybody had a legit chance, it was him.

Fast forward to March 20, 2018 and the news filled up the airways and social media that after years and years of seeing specialists, WWE doctors have approved Daniel Bryan's return to in-ring competition. At a lost for words, I couldn't wait for Smackdown Live to come on. Daniel Bryan would finally address the news that he is officially cleared to return to in-ring action in a WWE ring.

Many people didn't think he would be cleared and many believed that once his contract was up, he would return to the independent circuit and probably make a ton of money working on weekends and signings. WWE wisely made the decision to go ahead and clear him after every specialists cleared him to return to the squared circle.

So what's next? I'm overwhelmed honestly. I'm still thrilled to have my all favorite favorite wrestlers currently in WWE. Only time will tell what's next for Bryan but until that time, let's just enjoy the ride.
