Converse Chinese New Year Collection

In celebration of the Year of the Monkey, Converse is set to launch the 2016 Chinese New Year Collection, featuring a full range of footwear, apparel and accessories, all adorned with Chinese styled imagery inspired by The Monkey King, the character in the classic Chinese story Journey to the West. On the footwear side, there are three distinct themes: first up are bold black and red stripes, symbolizing the Jingu Bang, the poetic name of the magical staff wielded by the immortal Monkey King, covering a Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and Chuck Taylor All Star Core Slip. Next up is the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi in black leather, embossed with abstract golden cudgel elements, as well as a Year of The Monkey logo on the back strip and gold accents throughout, representing wealth and happiness. Finally, the Chinese New Year Print collection draws inspiration from the pilgrimage described in the classic novel, using geometric patterns to represent stylized mountains and clouds printed on the uppers of the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and Chuck Taylor All Star Core Slip. Look for the goods to hit stores this Friday. via Freshnessmag.com
