Star Wars-themed Lands Coming to Disney World

Today at the D23 Expo – an annual event for “ultimate Disney Fans” – and on TwitterDisney CEO Bob Igner announced that the destination resort and amusement park will be building massive Star Wars-themed lands at their Orlando and Anaheim Parks. With over 7,500 fans in attendance, Iger outlined the plan for a 14 acre-plus Star Wars land, hoping to create “a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single-themed land expansion ever.” Once complete, fans will be taken to a whole new Star Wars planet, including epic scenes that put you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and a Millennium Falcon ride. Fans will also be joined by humanoids, aliens, and droids with the goal to not “stray” from the original film. While this isn’t the first time Disney parks have had a Star Wars presence, this is something entirely different: allowing fans to enter a galaxy far, far away. No date for the park opening was giving aside from the usual “coming soon,” but you can read more on the official Disney blog. via FreshnessMag.com
