Words of Wisdom: The Serenity Prayer

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen".

John Wall Drafted 1st overall to the Washington Wizards

As expected, University of Kentucky star, John Wall was selected first overall in the 2010 NBA draft. With a new look to the Washington Wizards, John Wall looks to re-vamp a franchise and face new challenges as he must adjust to the everyday life of a NBA basketball star and in my opinion the front runner for the 2011 Rookie of the Year honors. Unsure of what the Wizards will do with Gilbert Arenas, as there are concerns of these stars being able to play cohesively as a unit, the Wizards will do whatever is best to bring some pride back the Washing D.C./Maryland area.

Ready to Explode!!!

A friend of mine once told me that I was full of something, like a firecracker. I asked her what she meant and she told me "...a firecracker is something that you can hold until it's lit but you already know the outcome which is loud but amazing to watch and you can't take your eyes away from it but yet you can't get closer because you will get burned. It's like there's so much with you that I don't have a clue what will happen once your lit......". She has a good point.

NBA Finals Game 7 Mini-Movie

In case you missed it, this is how it all went down. With only two teams left standing, one had to fall. There could be only one champion and the Los Angeles Lakers prevailed.

Game. Set. Match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I've been saying all season, the Los Angeles Lakers are the 2010 NBA World Champions once again. After a poor shooting night from Kobe Bryant, the Lakers were still able to band together and pull out a 83-79 win against storied rival, The Boston Celtics. After a tough series, the Lakers have now captured their 16th championship just one shy of the Boston Celtics. Not only has the Lakers captured their sixteenth world title, head coach Phil Jackson has captured his record 11th championship as a head coach. Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher are now the only active players to have 5 championships.

The Final Countdown

Led by Kobe Bryant's 26 points and 11 rebounds, the Los Angeles Lakers force a Game 7 with a 89-67 win over the Boston Celtics. It is now time to silence the critics and put an end to the speculation that the Los Angeles Lakers can't beat the Boston Celtics. It is now time for the Lakers to redeem themselves from a lost to the Boston Celtics in 2008 and claim another championship in this storied rivalry.

Let's Take em' To War!!!!!!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, the rivalry has been renewed once again and this time things are guaranteed to be different!!! The last time the Boston Celtics met the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals was in 2008 when the Celtics ousted the Lakers in six games with 4-2 advantage. Looking to repeat after 2008, the Boston Celtics struggled in the playoffs against the Orlando Magic due to the absence defensive anchor and emotional team leader Kevin Garnett. Suffering a knee injury earlier in the season, Kevin Garnett was in no shape to contribute the way he wanted to in hopes of repeating a NBA championship. While the Celtics struggled in 2009, the Lakers were geared up with an experienced team and a renewed focus to return to the NBA Finals and take back the top spot which was once theirs. Disposing of the Orlando Magic in five games, the Lakers conquered the 2009 NBA Finals with a commanding 4-1 advantage and returned to the top of mountain. Now with the acquisition of Ron Artest and Kobe more focused than ever before, the Lakers look to get revenge and take one step closer in tying the franchise record of NBA championships with the Boston Celtics at 17 and the L.A. Lakers at 15. If you're having a hard time trying to figure out what I'm saying, I'll say it like this........Los Angeles Lakers 2010 NBA Finals World Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Words of Wisdom: Consequences

In life, we often make decisions and say things that can hurt is us in the long run. There are plenty of things that people have said that they wish they could take back but the fact of the matter is that everything we choose to say or do has a end result or a consequence. All of our actions have consequences whether they're good or bad. So be careful what you do and say because as adults, you will always be held accountable for the decisions you chose to make. Lesson learned.

Ron Artest hits Game Winning Shot at the Buzzer!!!

After a previous ill-advised shot in the last seconds of Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, Ron Artest came up big as Kobe Bryant missed the long three from the corner in the final seconds of the game. The Los Angeles Lakers finished the game 103-101 preventing an overtime period. The Lakers look to close this series out in Game 6 in Phoenix.

Head Coach Matthew Davies is proud to announce the addition of Anthony "Honey" Baglin to the UPEI Men's Basketball Program for 2010. Baglin previously played two seasons with the CCBC-Dundalk Men's Basketball program in Baltimore, MD. During his first season with the Lions, Baglin was named 1st Team All-Maryland JUCO and 1st Team All-Region XX, Division II. He averaged over 25 points per game and shot a blistering 58% from beyond the arc. In his second season, Baglin was named and NJCAA Division II 3rd team All-American at the end of the season. "We expect Anthony to make an immediate impact to our backcourt," said Coach Davies. "His quickness and ability to score from the perimeter should elevate our guard-play to the level we feel is necessary to excel in the AUS. His jumper should stretch opposing defenses in a way that allows his teammates to maximize their offensive looks. We are very excited about how our backcourt is shaping up for 2010." Baglin, a 6'0 combo-guard, played high school basketball at Frederick Douglass Senior High School in Baltimore, MD. He will be entering his 3rd year of eligibility and will be studying in UPEI's Faculty of Arts.
