Why Cape Town's Cornerstore Is Revolutionzing the Common Streetwear Shop

Nike Air Penny 2 "Miami Heat" Retro

The Nike Air Penny 2 is headed back to retailers, but this time it’s skipping out on any colorway associated with the team that Penny represented during his All-Star and NBA Finals trips and instead hints at a rival: the Miami Heat. Penny only played a handful of games with the squad before hanging up his signatures for good, but the Nike Air Penny 2 “Miami Heat” is reason enough to remember his brief stint there thanks to an awesome colorway of black, university red, and varsity maize. Slated for a March 18th release for $150 this Penny 2 release bridges the gap between one of Anfernee’s most notable early signature models and his career’s often forgotten twilight bouncing around numerous NBA teams. Jesse Owens is the Inspiration behind Adidas Basketball Black History Month Collection

Known as one of the greatest athletes of all-time not just for his track and field feats but also his cultural impact as a pioneering African American in sports, Jesse Owens inspires the 2016 Black History Month collection for adidas Basketball. World renowned after winning four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic games as a black man in the face of Nazi Germany, Owens has since been a symbol of social justice and racial equality in sports as well as all of society. With colorways inspired by the track spikes hand-crafted by adidas founder Adi Dassler that Owens wore during those Olympics, the D Rose 6D Lillard 2, and Crazylight Boost 2.5 all receive the special edition BHM makeovers to celebrate the legacy of African Americans in sports. The D Rose 6features a tumbled leather upper with an aged treatment to pay homage to the medal-winning spikes worn by Owens, while the colorway is finished with off-white accents, a clear outsole with gold flecks, and a graphic on the inner lining depicting the Olympic crowd. The D Lillard 2 receives an off-white color palette representing the track uniform Owens wore in 1936 with cracked gold foil texture and cream suede. Finishing the trio, the Crazylight Boost 2.5 which will be worn by James Harden and Andrew Wiggins features an off-white Primeknit upper and also includes the same gold foil as the D Lillard 2. The Black History Month D Rose 6 and D Lillard 2 both release later this month at adidas.com. via SneakerNews.com

Converse Chinese New Year Collection

In celebration of the Year of the Monkey, Converse is set to launch the 2016 Chinese New Year Collection, featuring a full range of footwear, apparel and accessories, all adorned with Chinese styled imagery inspired by The Monkey King, the character in the classic Chinese story Journey to the West. On the footwear side, there are three distinct themes: first up are bold black and red stripes, symbolizing the Jingu Bang, the poetic name of the magical staff wielded by the immortal Monkey King, covering a Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and Chuck Taylor All Star Core Slip. Next up is the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi in black leather, embossed with abstract golden cudgel elements, as well as a Year of The Monkey logo on the back strip and gold accents throughout, representing wealth and happiness. Finally, the Chinese New Year Print collection draws inspiration from the pilgrimage described in the classic novel, using geometric patterns to represent stylized mountains and clouds printed on the uppers of the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and Chuck Taylor All Star Core Slip. Nike Air Pressure Retro

One of Nike’s most technologically advanced styles from decades past is undoubtedly the Nike Air Pressure.
Widely known as Nike’s counter to the Reebok Pump in the late 80’s, the Nike Air Pressure was, and always has been, much more than a one-up move by Nike. The shoe has long been revered as being ahead of its time, and equally, capturing a moment in time.
For the first time ever, a retro of the Air Pressure is upon us. Releasing with its original packaging and pump apparatus, give the Nike Air Pressure a look below and expect the release on January 14. Stay tuned for more details. via NiceKicks.com
